Commemorative Medal Armed Humanitarian Operations

The Commemorative Medal for Armed Humanitarian Operations (large model) is a Belgian military decoration, established to recognise participation in humanitarian missions carried out in an armed context by the Belgian Armed Forces. It reflects the service of military personnel in operations combining humanitarian assistance with operational presence.

The medal is a round bronze disc. At its centre lies a blue enamelled field bearing a golden five-pointed star. Surrounding this is an octagonal bronze border engraved with the bilingual inscription:
“GEWAPENDE HUMANITAIRE OPERATIES – OPÉRATIONS HUMANITAIRES ARMÉES”.

It is suspended from a wide moiré ribbon in sky blue, featuring at its centre the Belgian national colours – black, yellow and red – in vertical stripes.

The large model is worn on the uniform during official ceremonies and military occasions.
