Medal UN Lebanon - UNIFIL

The UN Medal “Lebanon – UNIFIL” (large model) is an international award of the United Nations (UN), instituted for military personnel and certain civilians who took part in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Established in 1978, this mission’s mandate is to maintain peace and security in southern Lebanon, monitor the withdrawal of foreign forces, and assist the Lebanese government in re-establishing its authority in the area.

The medal is a round bronze decoration. On the obverse is the emblem of the United Nations: a world map in azimuthal projection, surrounded by two olive branches symbolising peace. The inscription “UN” appears in relief above.

The medal is suspended from a moiré ribbon in blue and green, separated by thin vertical red stripes and edged with narrow white lines. The colours symbolise respectively the UN (blue), the Lebanese landscape (green), the sacrifices for peace (red), and neutrality (white).

The large model is worn on the uniform during official ceremonies, UN commemorations and military events.
