Knight Order of Leopold

This version of the Knight of the Order of Leopold insignia is the large model in metal, as worn on full dress uniform. It is the official insignia awarded upon appointment as a Knight in the Order of Leopold.

The decoration consists of a white-enameled four-armed cross, featuring at the center of the obverse a gilt Belgian lion (surrounded by the inscriptions “L’Union Fait la Force / Eendracht Maakt Macht”), and encircled by a green enameled wreath of laurel and oak leaves. On the reverse side, the royal monogram ‘LR’ (Leopoldus Rex) is displayed in the center. Above the cross sits a silvered royal crown, from which the badge is suspended by a purple moiré ribbon, characteristic of the Order of Leopold.

This version is made of metal, with enamel and partial gilding.
