Grand Cordon Order of Leopold Military

The metal reduction of the Grand Cordon in the Order of Leopold, military division, is a finely crafted miniature of the grand cordon insignia. This piece features the Dutch-language version of the motto “EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT” and preserves all the characteristic details of the original in a smaller format.

The decoration consists of a white-enamelled cross adorned with green-enamelled laurel wreaths, a central black medallion with the gilded Belgian lion in relief, and around it the national motto in Dutch in gilded letters. Above the cross rests the gilded royal crown, while the crossed gilded swords clearly mark the military division.

The reduction is suspended from the traditional purple ribbon, finished with a rosette and a gilt galloons, as customary for the rank of Grand Cordon. This miniature is worn on occasions where the full insignia are not suitable or practical, serving as an elegant and representative alternative.
