Civilian Disobedience Medal 1940-1945 - yellow

The Medal for Objectors 1940-1945 was established after the Second World War to recognise Belgian citizens who resisted the demands of the occupying forces. This yellow-stripe version was awarded to Belgians living in territories occupied and annexed by Germany who refused to enlist in the German armed forces. The bronze medal depicts on the obverse the bust of a young man with folded arms, proud and resolute. The reverse bears an oak and laurel wreath surrounding the inscription “1940-1945”. The medal is suspended from a green moiré ribbon with two vertical yellow stripes. This decoration stands as a powerful symbol of courage, integrity, and defiance against compulsory military service under occupation.
