Commemorative medal 1914 -1918

The miniature of the Commemorative Medal 1914–1918 is the reduced-size version of this official Belgian award, created after the First World War to recognise service by military personnel and civilians during the conflict.

The small medal is struck in bronze-coloured metal in the distinctive triangular shape with a rounded lower edge. The obverse depicts the profile of a Belgian soldier wearing an Adrian helmet, surrounded by laurels, with the years “1914” and “1918” engraved on either side.

The miniature of the Commemorative Medal 1914–1918 is worn from a narrow yellow ribbon with a central black stripe and red edges, symbolising the Belgian national colours.
