Medal 1939 - 1945 Star

The miniature of the 1939–1945 Star is the reduced version of the original British campaign medal awarded for active service during the entire Second World War. Personnel of the British armed forces and the Commonwealth qualified after a minimum period of operational service on land, at sea or in the air.

The miniature retains the distinctive six-pointed star design in bronze-coloured metal, bearing the royal cypher of King George VI at the centre. It is attached to a narrow moiré ribbon of dark blue, red and light blue, representing respectively the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force.

Traditionally worn with evening dress or on formal occasions when the full-size medal was not suitable, this miniature remains an authentic historical reminder of the global war effort of 1939–1945 and a valued collector’s item among British military decorations.
