Volunteer of War 1940-1945

The lapel ribbon of the War Volunteer Decoration 1940–1945 is a discreet form of wearing the distinction, intended for use on civilian clothing.

The lapel ribbon consists of a folded piece of moiré ribbon in the official red and dark blue colours. It is mounted on a metal base that slides through the buttonhole of a jacket or suit. At the back, the base is folded over so that the lapel ribbon stays firmly in place and cannot move.

The lapel ribbon provides a modest and dignified way to display the award in daily wear or at formal occasions, without the need to pin the full medal.
