Grand Cross Order of Leopold II

The sash of the Grand Cross in the Order of Leopold II is the broad shoulder ribbon belonging to the highest grade of this Belgian order of knighthood. It is worn diagonally across the right shoulder, ending in a large bow with trailing ends at the left hip, from which the commander’s badge is suspended.

The sash is made of blue moiré ribbon with a central black stripe, in the traditional colours of the order. The finely crafted bow lends the insignia an imposing presence during official ceremonies and state occasions.

This sash is an essential element of the Grand Cross and is always supplied together with the commander’s badge and the breast star.
