Medal of the Red Cross of Belgium 1st class

The Medal of Honour of the Belgian Red Cross – First Class was instituted to recognise exceptional services rendered to the Belgian Red Cross. The decoration consists of a red enamelled cross, surrounded by a golden laurel wreath. At its centre is an oval medallion depicting the Belgian lion in gold, bearing on its chest the emblem of the Red Cross. The whole is surmounted by a royal crown as a mark of national recognition. The medal is suspended from a white moiré ribbon with a broad red central stripe. This First Class version represents the highest grade of the award and was conferred for outstanding humanitarian service and patriotic dedication.
