Medal of Labour 2nd class

This miniature of the Belgian Second Class Labour Decoration is a reduced-size version in metal, in French, designed as a portable and practical alternative to the official decoration. Although smaller, it retains the same symbolism and refined details, including the oval shape with a blue enamelled laurel wreath symbolising honour and merit.

The central medallion also features the silver depiction of the traditional work helmet with crossed tools, symbolising craftsmanship and a strong work ethic. The inscriptions “HABILETÉ - MORALITÉ” are rendered in French and reflect the core values of competence, morality, and integrity. Above the medallion sits a silver-coloured royal crown in relief, representing official recognition.

The miniature is attached to a ribbon in the Belgian national colours, made from fine moiré fabric whose distinctive wavy texture gives it an elegant and luxurious appearance. This version remains a recognisable and honourable distinction, suitable for daily wear or informal occasions where the original decoration is not worn.
